A TALENTED YOUNG SCIENTIST: UNIVERSITY OF PISA AND SANT’ANNA SCHOOL STUDENT GIULIO DEANGELI EARNED TWO DEGREES SUMMA CUM LAUDE (MEDICINE AND BIOTECHNOLOGY) OVER THE COURSE OF TWO MONTHS. RECTORS MANCARELLA AND NUTI: CONGRATULATIONS ARE IN ORDER
Giulio Deangeli, a multi-talented student from the University of Pisa and Sant’Anna, is working on research dedicated to finding cures for neurodegenerative diseases. By the age of 25, Deangeli received a degree in Medicine (20 July 2020), five scholarships from Cambridge University, and a second degree in biotechnology (23 September 2020) summa cum laude with grade point average of 30 cum laude.

I will be able to pursue my career in neuroscience and continue to do the research I am working on.”

Deangeli’s leadership education is not struggling to be recognized. Next to this achievement comes Deangely's hard work in gaining 4 degrees in a few months (Medicine, Engineering, Biotechnology and Molecular Biotechnology).
Medicine can help tackle important challenges such as neurodegenerative diseases. Science is one of the top priorities and talented researchers will influence our society to a great degree: “I am investigating the pathogenic mechanisms of Parkinson’s disease. I focused on alpha-synuclein protein, nonetheless, as a young scientist, I must underline the importance of research to the future success of Italy. I would like to make an impact that matters to our people, our community, and the wider Italian health system. I look forward to continuing my career in Italy and contributing to the common good. "
“I think we need to address concerns about the impact of a brain drain. The UK has a worldwide reputation for being at the forefront of international higher education and research, in fact, I am proud to attend enrichment programs at the Cambridge University’s Department of Clinical Neurosciences. My research now involves a better understanding of the nervous system, but I want to make an impact in my home country.”
